La influencia de las normas sociales en el embarazo adolescente. Una revisión bibliográfica

Abstract

El embarazo adolescente está influido por la normativa social. La construcción social del sexo que los adolescentes forjan en la relación con su entorno determina su comportamiento sexual y, por tanto, incide en la probabilidad de aparición del embarazo. Este es un fenómeno con calado mundial. Afecta a la salud física y mental de las adolescentes, además de tener afectación social, económica y educativa. A partir de 24 artículos científicos, y mediante una investigación teórica, se han estudiado los factores que inciden en su aparición, la influencia de la cultura y las consecuencias del mismo. Los factores que más afectan a su presentación son el temprano matrimonio y debut sexual. Además, la cultura predominante de los estudios promueve la abstinencia sexual a pesar de normalizar las relaciones prematrimoniales. Las consecuencias son diversas, siendo el estrés la más generalizada. Se desprende la necesidad de realizar campañas de promoción de la salud sexual. Además, el presente estudio arroja evidencia científica útil de ayuda en el apoyo psicológico a las adolescentes en esta situación y su entorno cercano.

Adolescent pregnancy is influenced by social norms. The social construction of sex that adolescents forge in their relationship with their environment determines their sexual behaviour and, therefore, affects the likelihood of pregnancy. This is a global phenomenon. It affects the physical and mental health of adolescents, as well as having social, economic and educational consequences. Based on 24 scientific articles, and through theoretical research, we have studied the factors that affect its appearance, the influence of culture and its consequences. The factors that most affect its occurrence are early marriage and sexual debut. In addition, the predominant culture of the studies promotes sexual abstinence despite the normalisation of premarital sex. The consequences are diverse, with stress being the most widespread. There is a need for sexual health promotion campaigns. In addition, the present study provides useful scientific evidence for psychological support for adolescents in this situation and their immediate environment.
