Abstract: The discovery of the so-called Edict of Bierzo was a turning point in studies on the Romanization of the northwest of the peninsula. After a first stage of confusion over its content, which led several researchers to question its authenticity, in a later stage historiography has had to review several of the aspects about the Roman conquest in this area that were considered definitively known. The Edict clearly shows us the way in which the Roman authority proceeded to integrate the newly subjugated territories and peoples. This will be the fundamental core of our work.
