Abstract: Introduction. Talent retention is a company’s ability to reduce its staff turnover. This research aims to examine the impact of psychological contract and emotional salary on talent retention by integrating a gender perspective. Methods. 128 working people participated in the survey (66.4% women; 33.6% men). Reliability analysis, correlation analysis, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multiple linear regression analysis were performed, by using talent retention as the dependent variable. Results: The multiple linear regression model succeeded in explaining up to 61.70% of male talent retention and up to 61.10% of female talent retention. Male retention predictors were psychological contract (ß = 0.413), emotional salary (ß = 0.388), and environment (ß = 0.640), while female retention predictors were emotional salary (ß = 0.623), and profesional development (ß = 0.437). Socio-demographic data and working conditions were not significant predictors. Conclusion: This study notes the significance of the impact of psychological contract and emotional salary on a company’s working people retention. The effective implementation of these measures on HR management would therefore mean a considerable step forwards for gender equality and non-discrimination processes in organizational environments.
