Abstract: This thesis examines human-computer interaction (HCI) from a humanistic perspective, with a focus on audiovisual editing interfaces. It investigates how these interfaces influence and are shaped by social and cultural dynamics. The theoretical framework draws from disciplines like Critical Theory, Media Studies, and Digital Humanities, emphasizing a complex understanding of interfaces as cultural and technical entities, particularly within the "Third Wave of HCI." The study traces the history of audiovisual production and analyzes various contexts, including digital cinema, interactive cinema and live cinema. Methodologies such as critical analysis, speculative design, and practical projects like "Elastic Flow" are employed to explore the relationship between interfaces and cultural practices. The conclusions highlight key contributions, such as proposing future research directions in mobile editing, AI, and generative culture, aiming to advance humanistic HCI by offering new insights into the interplay between technology, society, and culture.
