Trastorn de l'espectre autista. Alteracions segons el sexe en la funcionalitat i en la neuroanatomia cerebrals en adolescents afectats de TEA idiopàtic i d’alt funcionament (revisió sistemàtica)

Abstract

El Trastorn de l’Espectre Autista (TEA) és un trastorn del neurodesenvolupament que afecta el cervell i el sistema nerviós central, amb alteracions cerebrals en la funcionalitat i la neuroanatomia. Si, segons la teoria sobre el fenotip de l’autisme femení (Female Autism Phenotype), les dones expressen la simptomatologia del TEA diferentment que els homes es pot considerar que l’afectació en el cervell també serà diferent. Així doncs, la finalitat d’aquest Treball Final de Grau (TFG) és identificar, a partir de l’estat actual de la literatura científica sobre el tema, les diferències segons el sexe en les alteracions de la funcionalitat i la neuroanatomia cerebrals en adolescents afectats de TEA idiopàtic i d’alt funcionament. Aquesta revisió sistemàtica va conformar una mostra final de 10 publicacions revisades per parells i que acomplien els criteris de selecció. L’anàlisi dels resultats dels articles no va evidenciar diferències significatives quant a la neuroanatomia excepte en la regió lateral del lòbul temporal, en canvi en referència a la funcionalitat cerebral sí s’han pogut identificar divergències destacables entre nois i noies adolescents afectats i afectades de TEA idiopàtic i d’alt funcionament. Es necessiten futures investigacions que ratifiquin els resultats obtinguts en les diferències segons el sexe en les alteracions de la funcionalitat i la neuroanatomia cerebrals en adolescents afectats de TEA idiopàtic i d’alt funcionament.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects the brain and central nervous system, with brain alterations in functionality and neuroanatomy. If, according to the theory on the Female Autism Phenotype, women express the symptoms of ASD differently than men, it can be considered that the brain will also be affected differently. Therefore, the purpose of this Degree Final Project (DFP) is to identify, based on the current state of the scientific literature on the subject, the differences according to sex in the alterations of functionality and neuroanatomy in adolescents affected by idiopathic and high functioning ASD. This systematic review formed a final sample of 10 peer-reviewed publications that met the selection criteria. The analysis of the results of the articles did not show significant differences in terms of neuroanatomy except in the lateral region of the temporal lobe, however, in reference to brain functionality, notable divergences have been identified between adolescent boys and girls affected by idiopathic and high-functioning ASD. Future research is needed to confirm the results obtained on gender differences in alterations in brain functionality and neuroanatomy in adolescents affected by idiopathic and high-functioning ASD.
