Abstract: Baudelaire’s Petits poèmes en prose were published in volume in 1869, after having appeared in the French-speaking press between 1855 and 1864. In 1905, the prolific translator Eusebio Heras published the first complete version in Spanish of the collected poems in Barcelona. That same year, in Montevideo, the anarchist newspaper El Pueblo published a selection of seven poems translated by Heras. Partially coinciding with this republication, the periodical editor, Leoncio Lasso de la Vega, published a belligerent essay on the inefficiency of the working masses to achieve the revolution. This article studies the relationships established between political and literary texts in translation in the heteroglossic context of the political periodical, analyzing its function in disturbing the “distribution of the sensible” (Rancière).
