María José Ragué Arias, pionera en el estudio del teatro contemporáneo hispánico y catalán con perspectiva de género

Abstract

María José Ragué Arias (Barcelona, 1941-2019) fue una investigadora, crítica teatral, profesora, dramaturga y activista feminista catalana. Este artículo se centra en una de las facetas de su trayectoria: las aportaciones al estudio del teatro contemporáneo hispánico y catalán desde una perspectiva feminista. Tras una síntesis de su recorrido intelectual, se exploran los distintos aspectos de esta parte de su obra: el estudio de las recreaciones contemporáneas de los personajes femeninos de la tragedia griega clásica, la recepción de los estudios teatrales feministas anglosajones, el análisis del campo teatral desde una perspectiva de género y la concepción de la autoría femenina como valor diferencial. El conjunto de estas aportaciones constituye una contribución pionera en el contexto de la academia hispánica de finales de siglo y continúa vigente a múltiples niveles, elevando a la autora al estatus de referente indispensable para el estudio de las relaciones entre género, feminismos, mujeres y teatro en el siglo xxi.

María José Ragué Arias (Barcelona 1941-2019) was a Catalan scholar, theatre critic, playwright and feminist activist. This article focuses on a particular aspect of Ragué’s career: her contributions to the study of contemporary Hispanic and Catalan theatre from a feminist perspective. Following an overview of her intellectual career, this article explores the different aspects of this part of her work: the study of the contemporary rewritings of ancient Greek theatre female characters, the reception of feminist anglophone theatre studies, the analysis of the theatre field from a gender perspective and the understanding of female authorship as a differential value. The ensemble of these contributions represents a pioneer approach to contemporary theatre within the late 20th century Spanish academia and is still current at multiple levels, standing as a referent to claim for the study of the relationships among gender, feminisms, women and theatre in the 21st Century.
