Abstract: This document is one of the materials developed within the project Edufire Toolkit- Educational Toolkit for Secondary Schools in Wildfires and the Climate Change Context, funded by the Erasmus+ program (2021-2024). It is a guide aimed at promoting community participation in forest fires and climate change education, primarily addressed to secondary school teachers and other people interested in environmental and community education. It can be used as an independent tool or complementary to additional educational materials developed and accessible from the project website (https://www.edufiretoolkit.eu/). The document is structured in a quick guide and an extended one. The first offers some practical guidelines to identify the experiences, knowledge, and actors already existing in the community and to achieve greater involvement of the school community with its socio- environmental surroundings. The second part offers a deeper approach and focuses on the concepts of "community" and "community participation" from the perspective of forest fire management, environmental education, and school and educational spaces. In addition, a section is dedicated to reflecting and giving tools on how to accompany the negative emotions that can be aroused by educational work with adolescents and young people on topics such as forest fires or climate change. Both parts of the guide include some examples of implementation drawn from the pilot tests developed within the during the Edufire Toolkit project calendar, as well as guidelines for evaluating these types of community participation initiatives.
