The mission guiding the UOC Library Services for Research team is to establish and offer useful, relevant and sustainable research support services - services that cover all the different user needs in the research environment (doctoral students, researchers, faculty, vice president and visiting scholars) - and to improve the Library's coordination with other areas of the University also involved in research management (Research and Transfer Support Office, Quality Office, etc.). The method used to define new research support services started with a benchmarking of the services offered by other universities and research institutions and was followed by analysis of the research lifecycle and the services potentially associated to each phase. The information search and management services include the Bibliographic Services, the bibliographic management tools, the training services and a selection of the most relevant resources when starting research. The publication support services offer resources including open access journals with impact factors that contribute to increasing research's visibility and publications' impact, together with information on the Open Access Institutional Policy and open access publication of doctoral theses. The assessment support services include the possibility to request bibliometric searches, support for accreditation calls, standardization of authors¿ names, guides for assessment and accreditation of UOC faculty and evaluation of scientific journals. In the near future, we would like to offer the following services: information literacy courses for doctoral students; CV bibliographic information integrity and quality assurance; bibliometric services (including a tool for all authorized users to easily search for and export bibliometric information on the scientific output of an individual, team or department); guidance on publishing issues (form and copyright) and a virtual research environment.en
