At present, communication networks are basically digital; the road traveled over the last 40 years has been very long, with such rapid development that it has made any forecast obsolete ahead of time (or sometimes this development is overestimated, as happened with the dotcom company boom and their subsequent collapse around the year 2000). Nowadays we can say that communications between computers and the Internet are being introduced very quickly in all walks of daily life. This Final Degree Project in Technical Engineering for Information Systems from the UOC appears within this development framework. As computer networks have become more complex, we increasingly require problem-solving tools that will help us to diagnose problems that can emerge in a communications network.en
