Abstract: The colonization of Patagonian territory in the early twentieth century was based on two major rail projects of national interest for Argentina. With the advancement of infrastructure increased the influx of immigrants interested in acquiring properties around the new stations. This process was developed unevenly in each region, with the method of funding and exploiting the infrastructure. The two infrastructure projects in question were the railroad of Alto Valle del Río Negro and Neuquén, and the Patagonian railroad. This paper aims to compare the two organizations from the point of view of functionality, in order to understand what actions were decisive in achieving the ultimate goal: Patagonian territorial colonization.
