Abstract: | Due to the exponential growth of the users demanding data and the saturation of the electromagnetic spectrum, there is a proliferation of new wireless technologies that do not use radiofrequency. LiFi is a wireless optical network technology that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for data transmission. The term Li-Fi refers to visible light communication technology (VLC) that uses light as an element to offer high-speed communication and complies with the IEEE Standard IEEE 802.15.7. This document analyzes the state of the art of the main developments and products of Light Fidelity technology (LiFi). First, an overview is shown to help understand the potential of this technology. Subsequently, the IEEE 802.15.7 standard that governs the physical layers and access to the medium of technologies based on visible light is detailed. A comparison is made with the different current wireless technologies and different cases of configurations of this technology are analyzed. They also analyze how to modify the behavior of the transmission, depending on different market products, analyzing the transmitted power. Finally, the conclusions of the work carried out are analyzed and possible fields of application of this technology will be defined. |
