Abstract: This paper focuses on the study of the factors that explain the emergence of vertical video as an audiovisual format, from a technological, cultural and biological point of view. Vertical video is defined as that format whose composition and framing uses an aspect ratio in which the vertical axis is longer than the horizontal. Vertical video is also known as portrait mode video, tall screen format, mobile format and tall video.
