Author: Galdós Monfort, Ana

Abstract: Migrant women in transit. African women trapped at the Spanish-French border is a webdoc to document the situation in which women from West Africa find themselves when they arrive in Irun. According to several organizations an increasing number of women and children undertake dangerous journeys in search of safety and dignity. While in transit, they suffer abuse and exploitation. Each border crossing is one more barrier to their hopes for a dignified life. The Spanish-French border is one more obstacle. When migrants arrive in Irun and try to cross the border into France, they are met with police controls that prevent them from crossing. But they have traveled many kilometers, have lived in countries where their rights have not been respected, have worked in conditions of semi-slavery and have suffered all kinds of violence, so their journey is a journey of no return. They will do everything possible to get through to France.
