Abstract: The following work entitled "Design of versatile toys built with biodegradable material applying a new technology: 3D printing" corresponds to the Multimedia Final Project. It is based on the study and analysis of the transformation that the use of traditional toys has undergone over the last 45 years towards the use of nonstructured material in the First Cycle of Nursery schools in Catalonia, in parallel with the changes that society has undergone and the influence of different pedagogical trends in this transformation. The hypothesis is based on the statement that the traditional toy has been replaced to a large extent by non-specific material in early childhood schools in Catalonia as a result of the evolution of society and the influence of different pedagogical currents, the importance of this material in the good integral development of the child in the first years of life and the assumption of the discrepancy between the offer of the companies in the sector and the current needs of the potential users: children and professionals, which creates the need for new designs in toys that comply with the characteristics and properties of this non-structured material. The project proposal is based on PeopleCentred Design (PCD) or User-Centred Design and involves the design of versatile or unstructured toys built with environmentally friendly material and applying a new technology, in this case 3D printing. The work consists of different phases. The first phase corresponds to the research and analysis of the hypothesis and justification of the subject, the second phase to the definition and synthesis of the initial research in order to establish the initial design, the third phase involves the generation of the design, and the fourth phase involves the evaluation. From the hypothesis statement, the research methods applied to the project vary according to the phase. For the analysis and research phase, the methods applied are divided into three processes: historical and theoretical research into the different pedagogical currents in Catalonia over the last 45 years, their bases and the analysis of the relationship in the use of non-specific material in schools today. The quantitative method by means of surveys to professionals, specifically using a sample of 229 professionals from a population of 905 municipal nurseries throughout Catalonia, establishing a margin of error of 4,6% and a reliability of 90%, the qualitative method by means of interviews with1 nursery director and 1 writer. In the definition phase, with the analysis of the results of the first phase, a market study is carried out by collecting data from companies dedicated to the school toy sector, in parallel, a theoretical investigation of child development from zero to 3 years old is carried out to define the profile of the end user, the limitations and characteristics of the design and with the results of the first phase, a profile of the professional is made: secondary user. In the third phase of design generation, 3D modelling of various toys and preparation of the files for printing is carried out, and in the fourth phase, a first 3D printing test is carried out to correct possible errors and an experimental test of the product with the action of a child.
