Les guerres civils de finals de la República (I aC) al territori i a la ciutat de Tarraco. Fonts literàries, arqueològiques i SIG

Abstract

L'excavació d'assentaments de tipus militar (castella) i les troballes d'objectes militars (militaria) en alguns punts del Camp de Tarragona, ha despertat el debat sobre els efectes de les guerres civils del segle I aC a Tàrraco i la seva àrea d'influència. En aquest treball avaluarem l'impacte de les guerres entre Sertori, Pompeu i Cèsar en territorio tarragoní. Aquest estudi es centra en tres grans apartats: les fonts escrites, les fonts arqueològiques i la informació que podem obtenir a través dels Sistems d'Informació Geogràfica. En primer lloc analitzarem les fonts antigues (romanes, gregues i cristianes) que ens parlen de l'impacte d'aquests conflictes al nord-est peninsular. Amb aquesta informació i la interpretació que n'han realitzat els principals investigadors, catalogarem els principals episodis de tensió militar i bèl·lica a la zona catalana. A partir de les fonts arqueològiques obtindrem dades sobre la ciutat de Tàrraco i el poblament del seu ager. Podrem determinar si l'arqueologia aporta realment dades sobre la tensió militar d'aquests moments. En el tercer gran bloc estudiarem les relacions de visibilitat dels principals castella i aportarem alguns mapes que ens ajudin a entendre com s'articulava el control del poder romà sobre el Camp. Aquest treball ens ajudarà a interpretar l'impacte de les guerres civils al nord-est peninsular i a l'àrea d'influència de la capital de la Citerior.

La excavación de asentamientos de tipo militar (castella) y los hallazgos de objetos militares (militaria) en algunos puntos del Camp de Tarragona, ha despertado el debate sobre los efectos de las guerras civiles del siglo I aC en Tarraco y su área de influencia. En este trabajo evaluaremos el impacto de las guerras entre Sertorio, Pompeyo y César en territorio tarraconense. Este estudio se centra en tres grandes apartados: las fuentes escritas, las fuentes arqueológicas y la información que podemos obtener a través de los Sistems de Información Geográfica. En primer lugar analizaremos las fuentes antiguas (romanas, griegas y cristianas) que nos hablan del impacto de estos conflictos en el nordeste peninsular. Con esta información y la interpretación que han realizado los principales investigadores, catalogaremos los principales episodios de tensión militar y bélica en la zona catalana. A partir de las fuentes arqueológicas obtendremos datos sobre la ciudad de Tarraco y el poblamiento de su ager. Podremos determinar si la arqueología aporta realmente datos sobre la tensión militar de esos momentos. En el tercer gran bloque estudiaremos las relaciones de visibilidad de los principales castella y aportaremos algunos mapas que nos ayuden a entender cómo se articulaba el control del poder romano sobre el Camp. Este trabajo nos ayudará a interpretar el impacto de las guerras civiles en el noreste peninsular y en el área de influencia de la capital de la Citerior.

The excavation of military type settlements (castella) and the findings of military objects (militaria) in some points of the Camp de Tarragona, has awakened the debate on the effects of the civil wars of the first century BC in Tarraco and its area of influence. In this work we will evaluate the impact of the wars between Sertorius, Pompey and Caesar in Tarragona territory. This study focuses on three main sections: written sources, archaeological sources and the information we can obtain through Geographical Information Systems. Firstly, we will analyse the ancient sources (Roman, Greek and Christian) that tell us about the impact of these conflicts in the northeast of the peninsula. With this information and the interpretation made by the main researchers, we will catalogue the main episodes of military and warlike tension in the Catalan area. From the archaeological sources we will obtain data on the city of Tarraco and the population of its ager. We will be able to determine if archaeology really provides data on the military tension of those moments. In the third great block we will study the relations of visibility of the main Castilian towns and we will contribute some maps that help us to understand how the control of the Roman power over the Camp was articulated. This work will help us to interpret the impact of the civil wars in the northeast of the peninsula and in the area of influence of the capital of Citerior.
