Abstract: This project shows the design and development of a new prototype of a self-contained pointing system device whose main functionality will be to serve as a guidance method for participants in outdoor activities such as geocaching. The system is based on the open source platform Arduino, which allows the integration of the different modules needed, a magnetic field sensor and a GNSS sensor, which collect the orientation and position data of the device, a LCD screen to display the orientation data to the user and a battery that will provide the required power to the whole system. The device uses the information from the sensors to geolocate the location and orientation of the system with respect to true geographic north and informs the user of the course to follow to reach the preset destination on the LCD screen. Likewise, the prototype provides, through a wireless communication established with the Arduino board, an integrated web service for the configuration and monitoring of the system and which is accessible from any web browser. Finally, the final testing of the system has allowed to verify the established design requirements and to confirm that the project objectives defined in the initial phase have been met.
