Abstract: This final degree project aims to analyse how the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the economies. Which macroeconomic indicators have been most affected, to what extent and what have been the economic and non-economic responses of eight European states. It will try to compare Spain with respect to the other seven countries analysed. Spain, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Poland have been chosen to analyse as representative of more than 86% of the GDP of the Eurozone, and Great Britain have been added as a major European power being still in the process called "Brexit". Firstly, macroeconomic data at the end of 2019 of the eight countries will be presented. Countries will be compared and grouped according to the similarity of their data through a statistical study of clusters. Various pre-crisis health data will also be analysed, which may explain the different needs or priorities of countries how they approach the crisis. Secondly, the evolution of macroeconomic data over the first half of 2020 and the measures applied to minimize the economic crisis will be analysed. This study will also refer to the social measures applied and the cases of sick and death suffered by each country. Finally, the results obtained show that Spain was at a disadvantage at the beginning of the crisis due to its greater dependence on tourism, the highest unemployment rate of all the countries analysed and lower investment in health had last years. Besides, it is one of the countries that have been suffered the most from the consequences of activity stops and mobility, in terms of GPD. The most significant conclusions are the following: 1) Germany was the best-prepared country to face this crisis. It had a more robust health care system, a healthier economy and it has made bolder or stronger decisions to help his economy. 2) Spain was in a bad position compared to the United Kingdom or Italy, which are the three countries that have suffered the most from the health crisis in the first half of 2019. Spain is the country that has offered less direct money transfers to its companies, self-employed and families endangering many more jobs and the subsistence of these post-pandemic companies. In addition, Spain is the country that has suffered the most GDP reduction and has the worst forecasts for the coming years.
