Abstract: Type II diabetes mellitus is a disease that sometimes can be controlled without medication if the patient follows healthy habits. These habits can be measured with the DMSES questionnaire. The goal of this Master's thesis was to demonstrate that by following the correct diet and doing adequate physical activity, the levels of glycosylated hemoglobin can be kept at a low level. First, an exploratory analysis of the variables was done, and then a linear model was proposed. Due to the nature of the main data (questions in a questionnaire), a model that explains most of the variation in the data is not achieved. On the other hand, these questionnaires do serve to discriminate between diabetes that is good or bad controlled by the patient, as will be seen by applying the data in logistic regression and cluster analysis. With a principal component analysis, the inverse relationship between the level of glycosylated hemoglobin and the scores of the DMSES questionnaire can be verified.
