Abstract: The burnout at work (SQT) or burnout síndrome is a pathology that affects many people in the work environment. Although most of the studies have focused on welfare professions such as health workers, teachers or social workers, in which workers are in direct contact with users and their families, the burnout syndrome can be present in any another profession. One of the most widely used instruments to measure its incidence is the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), which consists of three dimensions: Emotional Exhaustion, Cynicism and Professional Efficacy. Likewise, another of the used scales is the Questionnaire for the Evaluation of Occupational Burnout Syndrome (CESQT), which is composed of four dimensions named: Illusion for work, Psychic burnout, Indolence and Guilt. Burnout syndrome is linked to important personal and situational effects. With regard to organizations, burnout has been associated with various forms of negative responses to work, among which, the propensity to leave the organization stands out. The objective of this Master's Thesis is to analyze whether the psychosocial and personal factors associated with the burnout syndrome, and more specifically the Emotional Exhaustion and Psychic Burnout dimensions, are related to the intent to quit. Additionally, it is intended to study whether gender and age present significant differences in the levels of occupational burnout. The results obtained indicate that women score significantly higher than men in all the dimensions or subscales of burnout, except in the Illusion for Work dimension. The age variable did not show significant differences between the studied dimensions. Finally, it is concluded that there is a significant positive correlation between the intent to quit and emotional exhaustion, and less significant in the Psychic burnout dimension.
