Abstract: This Final Degree Project aims to study the concept of anonymity on the Internet, its advantages and disadvantages and how it relates to the different security frameworks on the network. It also analyses the digital footprint of users on the Internet, as well as the study of techniques and alternatives to help us reduce this footprint and get to obtain anonymity on the Internet. To perform this work, two investigations have been realized taking into two Internet profiles: a standard user who uses tools such as browsers, web search engines and social networks, and an advanced user with hacking knowledge who performs a penetration test. In both cases we have studied the data used by some of the tools, as well as the techniques or alternatives that prevent the massive sending of information. Additionally, two of the biggest scandals involving the use of user information are studied: the Cambridge Analytica case and the Snowden case.
