Abstract: This study aims to explore the meagre (Argyrosomus regius) microbiota, in order to evaluate the effect of the diet on the composition, abundance and diversity of its microbiota. In the least years, the study of the microbiome has gained relevance due to its influence and involvement in various host functions related to metabolism and health. Comprehend the composition, abundance, and diversity of the microbiota is necessary for understanding its involvement in these processes. Moreover, diet plays a very important role between the extrinsic factors that modulate the microbiota. In this study, 750 meagre were fed with five diets based on different protein sources [control diet (CD), microalgae diet (MD), insect meal diet (ID), protein and oil from water of tuna canning process (P&LD) and mixture diet (MixD)] and six samples from each group were analyzed. A fragment of the 16S rRNA gene was sequenced using the MiSeq® technology from Illumina®. The bioinformatic and biostatistical analysis were performed with QIIME2 and microeco package from R, respectively. The study revealed that Mycoplasma, Enterobacter, Bacillus and Flavobacterium were the most abundant genus. The higher Shannon index was revealed by the MD group (H = 2,54 ¿ 0,91). According to Bray-Curtis distances, the comparisons between groups were not statistically significant. Although the results between the different diets were not significant, this study describes the composition of the microbial community of the meagre gut for the first time ever.
