Title: Técnicas de traducción de elementos culturales específicos en los subtítulos al inglés de Salcador (2006)
Author: Espinosa Bosch, Rebeca
Tutor: Quixal Martínez, Martí
Abstract: Due to time and space restrictions, audiovisual translation poses a great challenge for translators, especially when facing Cultural Specific Items (CSI) like idioms, pet phrases, insults, names of organizations, celebrities, body politics, etc. This paper aims at imitating the study of Horba¿auskien¿ et al. (2016), which classifies the different techniques employed to translate the cultural references in the series My Kitchen Rules, based on Pedersen¿s taxonomy. The results of the study, in accordance with Pedersen¿s hypothesis, determine that retention is the most common translation strategy for CSÍ's. The objective of this master's project is to ascertain if this assumption applies when translating into different cultures.
