Abstract: This article aims to offer a series of measures and actions that are scientifically proven in order to become a guide to solve emotional and self-esteem problems in dyslexic students in primary and secondary education. In this sense, it is a theoretical review that wants to serve as a model when there are cases where the psychological discomfort experienced by students diagnosed with dyslexia evolves towards true emotional disorders. Furthermore, it is necessary to consider the shortcomings that these people present, in a general level, at their learning pace, and in a particular level, in reading and writing skills. It is part of a current context, where dyslexic children access the first levels of education and find that their learning rhythm is different from that of the rest of the students, showing themselves incapable of integrating written information as other classmates do. This fact often produces negative assessments due to their difficulties, both for their peers as for adults who do not know the disorder in question. Consequently, a methodology based on bibliographic research has been chosen to be applied on the analysis of other studies that have addressed this issue previously. Thus, the main discoveries demonstrate the importance of treating self-esteem at different levels: individual, family and community. The conclusions reached are based on an early and appropriate identification of the diagnosis, as well as correctly implementing emotional and social support to the dyslexic group and their families, with the aim of recovering the lost self-esteem in order to achieve the proposed goals.
