Abstract: The virtualization of the infrastructure through open source allows to offer the same resources as any physical infrastructure with certain advantages. With virtualization, server capacity is maximized, downtime is reduced and a large amount of energy is saved. With free software, the cost of acquiring licenses decreases, hardware with less training is required and the durability of the solutions increases. In this work, it is intended to provide a solution to obsolescence at low cost through virtualization. It exposes the starting point, the analyzes and the justifications that lead to define a combination of different virtualization technologies that will offer a solution to the inconvenience of working with obsolete hardware. To carry out this solution, different technologies have been reviewed and studied that have led to define KVM as Hypervisor and Open vSwitch as a virtual switch to create any scenario that can be implemented as the nerve center of the infrastructure with full guarantee in its operation.
