Title: La diversitat de perfils comunicadors en la ciència. Una oportunitat, o una amenaça?

Abstract: Corporate science communication needs to overcome a double challenge. Firstly, to deliver a message containing multiple layers of complexity to a highly diverse target audience and, secondly, do it from teams composed by a mixture of professional communicators, some with a background in communication and others in science. Notwithstanding the various formal training aimed at reducing the impact of so specialised profiles, it is reasonable to ask whether a communication bias exists according to the specific composition of the departments in charge. Would such bias be real, one could try to find the best professional composition and task assignment to maximize the strengths of each profile in the benefit of the overall communication effort. The present report develops and implements a measuring method to detect bias in the communication task from the top five CERCA research centres and determine whether it is attributable to the department¿s composition or other criteria. The research covers three broad communication areas: 1) Twitter activity; 2) mass media presence and, 3) scientific results dissemination. Centres under study are: Centre de Regulació Genòmica (CRG), Institut de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona (IRB), Institut de Bioenginyeria de Catalunya (IBEC), Institut de Ciències Fotòniques (ICFO) and Institut de Nanociències i Nanotecnologia de Catalunya (ICN2).
