Abstract: In the current environment, characterized by globalization, uncertainty and constant changes, the human factor is a key element to satisfy its demands effectively, and retaining talent and their involvement become an essential asset for organizations competitiveness. In this context, organizational affective commitment has been associated with decreased employee turnover and intention to leave, as well as increased performance, work well-being and productivity. Given that the relevance of these positive results, the reasons behind the commitment have aroused interest in recent decades. Among them, transformational leadership has been emphasize for its positive effect on this type of commitment, and the present study has tried to delve into the influence of each of its dimensions has on it. Thus, a sample of 54 active employees working for somebody else in the province of Barcelona is selected from different sectors and organizations. We evaluated the effect that the idealized influence attributed and as behavior, motivation and inspiration, intellectual stimulation and individual consideration have on the affective commitment. The results show how all dimensions of transformational leadership have a positive influence on this commitment dimension, although the strength of the relationship is different in each case. The limitations of the present study principally makes reference to the difficulty of generalizing the results given the non probabilistic type of sampling for convenience. For this reason, it's considered necessary to delve into these relationships in future research. In this way, it's expected to be able to implement a leadership style that effectively encourages affective employee commitment while benefiting their well-being and the competitiveness of the organizations where they work.
