Abstract: The public employee is subjected, from the moment they begin their working life, to a heavily structured world with its own private culture, characteristics and mood. It is in this process that the social pressures of their job, together with those from the outside world will make a person conform to being a public employee, to such an extent that we can speak of the civil servant as a construction. This creates a way of looking at and understanding the working world from a different perspective than is true of private companies. Thus, skills, attitudes, ways of being and obsessions only make sense within their environment, which they themselves understand as being completely different. Public competitive examinations as a right of passage, secondary socialization, the perception of reality, the who's, why's and where's as well as features of our society - time, work, rules and standards are some of the factors studied in this piece of work that help us to understand the why and how of this construction.
