Abstract: The main objective of this work is to analyze whether any modifications and/or changes took place in the identity of North American prisoners from the time they entered Death Row in the period 2000-2003. If this was in fact the case, the work I present here attempts to find out what the possible causes for this were. The secondary objective is to determine whether it is possible to speak of psycho-social and political mechanisms which are applied in a systematic way, or whether they are a set of nearly unconscious reactions and habits of the parties involved.
