Title: Una baula gramatical cabdal: práctica de Orthographia de Carles Ros (1732). Què aporta la seua ortografia a l'estudi i difusió del valencià al segle XVIII?
Author: Garcia Bernabé, Agustí
Tutor: Climent Martínez, Josep Daniel
Abstract: The Práctica de orthographia, para los dos idiomas Castellano y Valenciano (onwards, Práctica) by Carles Ros i Hebrera, is the link that connects the Valencian of the Baroque with the one of the Enlightenment, because it is the first linguistic work of the 18th- century. To prove this, we will conduct a literature search, which will allow us to reflect on how to structure information, so that we cover comprehension with an argumentative and explanatory thread. We will also detail the historical and linguistic context of Ros in order to elucidate the circumstances of that time, as well as the consequences that Catalan suffered in the Valencian Community, as soon as it became the most traumatic bump in its history: the Nova Planta Decree. Then we will summarize his biography and philological works. Later we will analyze the spelling manual specifically. First we will describe its external structure and secondly the internal structure, in addition the sections that deal with grammar, without neglecting, however, other related disciplines within the analyzed code. We will then break down the author's coincidences and divergences with subsequent linguists. Finally we will conclude circularly, in other words, Carles Ros is the link that channels the continuity of Catalan in a complex situation and full of difficulties.
