Title: Proyecto de la exposición "Contexto del origen del ballet nacional de Letonia: imperialismo ruso, vanguardismo europeo e identidad nacional letona (1914-1934)"
Author: Preciado Azanza, Gonzalo
Tutor: Cornejo, Laura
Abstract: This exhibition project has been designed to celebrate the centenary of the Latvian National Ballet. It narrates its origins in Latvia's complex historical-cultural context in the early 20th century, when Riga established itself as a crossroads of cultures through its extensive Art Nouveau collection. Its roots lie on the Russian imperialism from the Mariinski Ballet in Saint Petersburg, on the European avant-garde from Paris, driven by Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, and on the rise of the Latvian Awakening. Today, it is an indisputable reference on the international scene of classical dance and the jewel in the crown of Latvian culture.
