Title: Programa de estimulación cognitiva en una paciente con Enfermedad de Alzheimer en fase leve

Abstract: The case of a 67-year-old patient with mild Alzheimer's disease will be studied in this paper. Fictitious patient based on my experience acquired during the Master of Neuropsychology at the UOC. Alzheimer's Disease is a type of dementia of unknown etiology, which according to the OMS currently affects around 50 million of people worldwide, representing 60-70% of dementia cases. It is about a neurodegenerative disorder of insidious onset and progressive course, characterized by loss of memory and other cognitive functions, accompanied by psychological and behavioral symptoms. The results of the evaluation reveal, on the one hand, moderate alterations in praxis, visual-spatial abilities, visual confrontation naming, and executive functions, as well as anxious symptoms, irritability, apathy, and slight functional dependence. On the other hand, is was noted that the preservation of attention (sustained, focused, and selective), working and short-term memory and task initiation capacity. The intervention plan applied has as aims to exercise and maintain the patient's deficient mental capacities for as long as possible, in order to enhance her autonomy, quality of life and avoid functional disconnection. It consists of 5 weekly sessions of 60 minutes approximately, dedicated to the cognitive stimulation of 1 to 2 determined cognitive functions, including within this therapy the reminiscence once a week, and a daily reality orientation making possible the family inclusion as support in the intervention.
