Abstract: Nowadays there are still doubts regarding the impact of teleworking on teleworkers. For this reason, the main purpose of this research is to find out whether the impact of teleworking is negative -cause of stress- or positive -reducer of stress- and if this impact is differently perceived depending on teleworker's gender. To achieve it, the chosen method was a systematic quantitative literature review. The search was carried out through the search engine Scopus and included studies from 2011 to 2020. A total of 45 studies were found, but after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the sample was reduced and comprised a total of 11 publications. The analysis has been broken down into six groups of factors: temporal factors, workplace design, personal, interpersonal, emotional, and other factors. It has been found out that interpersonal factors are the ones related with the most stress in female gender. It should also be noted that personal factors have been the only ones that have shown results pointing to the reduction of stress, and, at the same time, that temporal factors have presented the same percentage at both causing and reducing stress, which is the reason why their influence and impact on teleworkers is not clear. The results of the research suggest that although teleworking may have the purpose of facilitating conciliation and reducing stress, the implications on teleworkers are often negative, increasing the stress levels of those who adopt it. The research also shows that women are more likely to telework out of necessity, since today women still tend to combine paid work and unpaid work. This combination between work and household needs causes teleworking to negatively influence women and to cause greater stress in the female gender than in the male gender.
