Abstract: Nowadays, it is evidence that we are witnessing a new change in the communication paradigm in which Twitter maintains a preeminent place within the political sphere, both nationally and internationally. The reasons that justify its enormous relevance are its possibilities for interactivity, outreach capacity and rapid dissemination in messages. The main objective of this work is, from the tweets obtained through a neutral hashtag and the mentions of the two main candidates, to detect relevant profiles obtained in this sample and analyze them, allowing to determine the possible differences in the use of these participation mechanisms on Twitter. The chosen event consists of the presidential elections of the United States of America, dated Tuesday, November 3, 2020. This objective will allow a qualitative analysis of their tweets, as well as discovering what the users with the most mentions of the candidates say. The analysis is expected to yield results such as charts of the most frequent words and at least one word cloud, as well as sentiment analysis. In addition, the top of words, the evaluation of sentiments according to dictionaries and the content of some representative tweets will allow to detect differences, if any, between those who use the neutral hashtag and those who mention the names of the main candidates, as well as differences between the mentions to each candidate. To do this, the tweets are obtained using a neutral hashtag and two keywords such as username on Twitter. At this point, the use of R libraries, such as twitteR, takes special relevance. Once a corpus of tweets associated with each of these data sets is available, from the searches detailed in the previous paragraph, metrics are used that rely on the count of mentions in the detection of profiles, to determine their relevance and your messages on the web. The presentation of results, as well as the conclusions of this work, will be published in future installments, as the work takes shape and is in a more mature phase.
