Abstract: The appearance of the Covid-19 virus has led to the cancellation of almost all popular festivals and celebrations throughout 2020. This has had an impact on the economy of many towns that took advantage of these festivals to advertise their greatest attractions, whether cultural, tourist or gastronomic. This is the case of A Arnoia, a small town in the province of Ourense that, for forty years, has held a party to celebrate its star product: pepper. Over a weekend this small town multiplies its population tenfold, offering its visitors not only gastronomy but also concerts and cultural events that make this event a benchmark on the Galician festive calendar. The state of restrictions imposed as a result of the Covid-19 prevented, last summer, the reissue of this format. Even so, the local authorities, considering this celebration important as a way to promote their gastronomy, decided to celebrate this party in the middle of the pandemic. The present work studies the way in which this event was held and its repercussion, using a mixed investigation, based on a qualitative and quantitative methodology.
