Author: García Rufián, Enrique

Abstract: Stroke is a pathology with a high incidence at the national and global level, being the first cause of dementia in adults and the second cause of death. Another problem of stroke is the high consumption of health resources once this pathology has been suffered, as well as being the reason for changing the role of family members to caregivers, who will have to put aside their daily tasks to take care of this full-time type of patients. Therefore, it is necessary to empower both patients and their caregivers in order to improve the evolution of the disease as well as the psychological and social spheres of caregivers. All these issues have to be solved within a framework that encompasses a series of technologies such as an online platform and a mobile application, guided by personnel with correct specific training on the subject. To do this, we describe the online stroke school model, which serves as a standard for empowering these patients and conducting specific training for health professionals.
