Author: Jiménez Muñoz, Susana
Tutor: Orriols i Llonch, Marc
Abstract: Through this final master's thesis, we mainly analyze the importance of the divine statue and gold, and consider the role of both elements in the genesis of alchemy in Greco-Roman Egypt. Likewise, we reflect on the role of artisan priests who manufacture divine statues through the figure of Zósimo de Panópolis, one of the first alchemists, and we value the role of the Egyptian temple and recognize it as an essential participant in the birth of alchemy. . Finally, we recognize the divine statue, the gold, the Egyptian temple and the artisan priests who make divine statues as pillars in the configuration of cultural memory related to alchemy that has led to forge its character as myth, in turn we value the role of all these elements in the configuration of the initiatory character of alchemy.
