Abstract: | Stroke refers to a focal or diffuse lesion, which may be transient or permanent, as a result of an alteration or interruption of blood supply to the brain. The stroke can be ischemic or hemorrhagic; the latter involves a rupture of a cerebral blood vessel. It is presented a fictitious case of a 48-year-old male who has suffered subarachnoid hemorrhage due to aneurysm rupture at the bifurcation of the right anterior and middle cerebral arteries. A month and a half after the lesion is performed a neuropsychological evaluation, in which moderate and severe alterations affecting temporo-spatial orientation, attention, left hemineglygency, visuospatial skills, memory and executive functioning are objectified, in addition to reduced awareness of deficit, apathy, irritability, disinhibition and severe dependence for activities of daily living. The overall objective of the intervention is to improve these cognitive, emotional and behavioral difficulties in order to reduce their impact on the patient's functionality and quality of life. A duration of 6 months of intervention is proposed, with 3 weekly sessions of 45 minutes each. The intervention includes psychoeducation, cognitive rehabilitation, behavioral strategies and family intervention. After 6 months, the evaluation protocol will be applied again, where it is expected to observe improvement in all areas, with mild and moderate alterations. |
