Abstract: Cycling is an increasingly popular sport. This year, due to the confinements suffered by COVID19, the increase in users has been even greater. This increase in users is made up of both men and women, of different ages, who are likely to be advised by a nutritionist in their new sporting activity. Cycling is an endurance sport where some of these cyclists use low-carbohydrate diets with the intention of improving their body composition and improving performance. These lowcarbohydrate diets, together with moderate or low intensity aerobic training, seem to improve the efficiency of lipid metabolism. Therefore, the aim of this study was focused on the implementation of a low-carbohydrate diet (20% carbohydrates, 25% proteins and 55% lipids), in amateur cyclists of both sexes and differentiated by age categories, and to assess the possible changes in their body composition, through electrical bioimpedance, and their sports performance with an FTP test (Functional Threshould Power). According to the bibliography consulted, the implementation of a low-carbohydrate diet could be recommended in pre-season periods, with high training volume, of low or moderate intensity, where changes in body composition are sought by reducing fat mass, without aiming to improve performance in high-intensity tests.
