Title: Campanya de sensibilització contra el malbaratament alimentari
Author: Garcia Garcia, Noemí
Tutor: Blesa Jarque, Jesús
Abstract: Goal 12.3 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals requires halving global food waste per capita in retail and consumer spending and reducing food losses in production chains and supply, including post-harvest losses. One of the main causes of food loss is the imposition of quality standards on agri-food products, regardless of their edibility. The present work is a proposal to raise awareness among the citizens of Menorca against food losses due to contempt by producers, distributors and consumers for local garden foods that do not comply with certain pre-established sizes, shapes and colors. The intervention is part of the Food Strategy of the Island of Menorca, giving continuity to the work of the Biosphere Reserve Agency of the Consell Insular de Menorca in matters of Food and Sustainability as a city signatory to the Policy Pact Urban Food of Milan. The campaign includes a program of actions, both face-to-face in each municipality of the island and virtual through social networks, which link the production sector, trade and consumers through the involvement of the island's municipalities, to help give visibility, value and increase the acceptability of the "ugly" product along the food chain.
