Abstract: | During the Franco regime, many films reflected the problem of housing, some of them very relevant in the field of Spanish cinematography. Depending on their ideological content, they suffered different ups and downs with the Board of Evaluation and Censorship, the body that determined the quality of film works and decided on the final version of the script. This article proposes to group a series of titles into two different narratives of dispossession, as well as to analyze their relationship with the ideological apparatus of the state. The time frame runs from 1957 to 1969 and is defined by the films El inquilino and Un millón en la basura. The aim is to demonstrate the conditions and modifications that critical films of the time had to face, as well as the existence of a cinema aligned with the official speech of housing policies. |
