Abstract: Gentrification is a socio-economic phenomenon inherent of large cities where certain lower-class neighborhoods become fashionable due to a set of factors, which are urbanistically renewed and attract new businesses. Theses facts cause an increase in prices, making citizens with higher purchasing power move to the neighborhood, causing a displacement of the original citizens and traditional businesses. Currently, despite the fact that some studies have been carried out on gentrification, all the factors inherent to this phenomenon are not known with certainty, so it is not easy to predict the neighborhoods that will undergo this transformation in the short term. This study proposes the elaboration of an interactive map of the neighborhoods of Barcelona that allows to visualize different social and economic factors throughout the years to discover the factors most related to gentrification. In a second part, we will try to classify neighborhoods according to their level of gentrification using unsupervised algorithms in order to predict which neighborhoods are more likely to be gentrified in the short term.
