Title: El sentimiento trágico de la vida en la obra poética de Federico García Lorca
Author: Rodríguez Marín, David
Tutor: Dasca Batalla, Maria
Abstract: This Master's The aim of this Master's thesis is to analyse the poetic work of Federico García Lorca (1898-1936) on the basis of a key theme: the tragic feeling of life. This concept, proposed by Miguel de Unamuno in his essay entitled Del sentimiento trágico de la vida (1913), encompasses an emotional problem that affects peoples and individuals. Studying García Lorca's lyrical production in the light of this concept will involve reflecting on a subject of special interest: the poet's tragic conscience. The constant allusions to death, the nostalgia to recover a lost paradise, the denunciation of a hostile and repressive world that threatens to impose its rule as unquestionable truth, or frustrated love are some of the themes that the author develops throughout his poetic work. However, all of them are the consequence of a much deeper problem. Likewise, this work will attempt to demonstrate that the tragic conscience, visible in books such as Romancero gitano (1928), Poeta en Nueva York (1940) or Diván del Tamarit (1940), was awakened early in García Lorca. This tragic awareness, whose symptoms began to manifest themselves around 1917, encompasses his entire poetic production and detonates in Lorca's tragic sense of life.
