Abstract: This research project seeks to make an approach to the process of identity construction in Colombia, if sports radio, through the event of La Vuelta a Colombia en Bicicleta, contributed to forging a regional identity from the center of the country, from the Cundiboyacense highlands, which was later extended and accepted by the national margins, which can be seen reflected today internationally. The present work takes as a temporal axis La Vuelta a Colombia en Bicicleta between the years 1951 and 1960, and spatially, within the Bogotá - Medellín - Cali triangle, the area known as the Cundiboyacense highlands that includes the departments of Boyacá and Cundinamarca. The axis of the administrative and political power of the country, and the birthplace of many the best professional cyclists in the country, such as Efraín Forero Triviño, Lucho Herrera, Oliverio Rincón, Patrocinio Jiménez, Fabio Parra, Álvaro Pachón, Miguel Samacá, Roberto Buitrago, and recently, Nairo Quintana and Egan Bernal to name a few of them.
