Author: Calatayud Soriano, Diego
Tutor: Martín Zamorano, Mariano
Abstract: This paper will focus on the analysis of the Confucius Institutes and their role, as an instrument of cultural diplomacy, in the complex map of China's public diplomacy. The Confucius Institutes are administered and partially funded by the Office of Chinese Language Council International, an organization under the authority of the Chinese Ministry of Education. Its task is, in origin, comparable to that of its international counterparts in terms of the fundamental services it provides, namely the teaching of its language, the dissemination of its culture to people of other nations and the conduct of cultural exchanges.
