Title: La mediació del dol mitjançant les TIC en un procés de càncer juvenil: estudi de cas del compte d’Instagram @la.falguera
Author: Seró Torroja, Ignasi
Tutor: Brescó, Ignacio
Abstract: Grief and its mediation are socially constructed processes. The universality of death unifies the human species while seeing that the historical, cultural and technological contexts determine its particularity. Digital natives permanently live with the mediation of screens as a vehicle of expression and it is underlaying to socializing and transmitting experiences. The experience and transit of mourning is impregnated with this logic in an alliance with social networks as a source of personal and shared management of mourning, thus vindicating processes such as illnesses and other personal and social mourning. The account of @la.falguera makes these dynamics explicit and illustrates the mourning in a process of becoming ill with cancer in the youth population. Throughout this FDP it is intended to reflect the new mediation of grief from social networks based on this case. The methodology followed is of a qualitative nature according to an observational netnography, specified in an online naturalistic observation and a data analysis through IPA. The extracted results serve as a starting point to understand the use of ICT as a vehicle for digital natives to mourn juvenile cancer on Instagram.
