Abstract: | The detection of the different modulating variables of the Burnout Syndrome (SB) is a useful tool both in the research and in the organizations with the aim of avoiding or reducing its levels. This dissertation is intended to present an exploratory analysis of socio-demographic and psychosocial variables having an influence on SB in 57 workers of different occupations in Murcia Region. The results reveal significant differences in variables in accordance with the occupation or age concerning the absence or presence of SB. A direct relation between socio-demographic variables and the three factors of MBI, namely, exhaustion, depersonalization, and profesional efficiency has not been found. However, significant and positive correlations have been found between the exhaustion factor and role conflict (r=,434), extrinsic effort (r=,574) and over-involvement (r=,538), and in a negative sense, with professional reward (r=-,304), and concentration and motivation (r=-,305). Depersonalization correlated in a significant and positive way with extrinsic effort (r=,436) and physical fatigue (r=,423) and, in a negative sense, with the warmth in the organization (r=-,459) and with concentration and motivation (r=-,475). Professional efficiency correlated in a positive way with self-efficacy (r=,421) and in a negative sense with role conflict (r=-,399). Variables such as intrinsic effort, satisfaction for the benefits received, the risk run by the company in its decisions appear as prescribers of exhaustion (45% of the variance). Concentration and motivation, warmth in the organization, and satisfaction for the benefits received are reliable prescribers of depersonalization (40% of the variance) and, self-efficacy and academic level of profesional efficiency (26% of the variance). Differences in the prescribers have been found which could account for each one of the MBI factors according to genre and occupation. |
