Author: Aliau Pons, Sandra

Abstract: This study aims to investigate the effect of authentic leadership on job engagement and job satisfaction. In particular, the participants were 25 employees (40% men and 60% women) of a company in Terres de l'Ebre dedicated to business consulting. The study employed a mixed data collection technique through three quantitative assessment scales, and an interview. The quantitative and qualitative results, analyzed from a descriptive point of view, suggested that using an authentic leadership style in a small company benefits the satisfaction and job engagement of the workers. However, this effect of leadership, although more significant in job satisfaction than in job engagement; it is not exclusive to benefit the satisfaction and engagement of the workers, as according to the participants they depend on other issues, and not only on the leadership style. These results are promising, so the leadership style used can be a competitive advantage for companies, both in terms of job satisfaction and commitment.
