Abstract: The demand for technology applied to management processes in Smart Cities is constantly growing, due to the need to optimize natural resources. The intelligent irrigation remote management system will allow us to control the effectiveness and save resources in the irrigation of the green or landscaped urban areas of any municipality. This process consists of three main parts; deployment of measurement equipment, centralized software for data processing and analysis and finally, the action equipment. With this intelligent solution focused on the effectiveness of irrigation in large urban green areas, we will achieve efficient maintenance of gardens and parks using only the necessary measure of water and energy resources, thus improving the effectiveness of a conventional irrigation system. The project can be divided into two distinct parts; on the one hand, the design of a solution for the effective monitoring and management of water resources in the current irrigation systems in green areas and parks of a city like Lloret de Mar; and on the other hand we will focus on the study of wireless sensor networks necessary for the acquisition of data in an intelligent irrigation system in Smart Cities. Specifically, we will implement a wireless network with ZigBee technology as a communication protocol with humidity sensors where we will be able to capture real data in real time on a graphical interface. In particular, we have chosen Arduino as a calculation and development platform for the control of the different nodes and XBee as wireless communication modules.
