Abstract: This paper aims to analyze some of the technologies used by the new 5G networks, specifically massive MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) based on the use of multiple transmitting and receiving antennas in the same communications panel, allowing beam shaping (or beamforming) very configurable. A block diagram of the RF subsystem (both the beamforming network and the RF Front-End) that makes possible this beamforming oriented to the panel under study is outlined: an array of 8x8 elements spaced lambda/2 at the frequency of 3.6 GHz. Established the theoretical bases of the study, a simulation is carried out in MATLAB with the intention of evaluating the interferences in terms of C/I (carrier to interference ratio) resulting from the use of the same radio resources between different users. Multiple interference case studies are analyzed, trying to determine the theoretical capacity of these systems, measured as the number of simultaneous users that could be served on the same frequency and in the same time slot. Finally, conclusions are presented on the feasibility and limitations of this study through the results obtained, also presenting some possible future lines of research.
